Although I was a good student back in the day, I cant help but still feel that school is something you should rebel against(it didnt help that my mother always encouraged this thinking). As for Maddie, she loves it! Every morning she wakes up and asks if she is going to school. When I tell her "no, it is Saturday", she gets so disappointed. Who ever heard of a child being disappointed that its Saturday!
I guess with the beginning of school comes the beginning of sickness. I used to brag that my child was as healthy as a horse and rarely got sick. I dont know how many times I heard the ominous words of "wait until she starts school" from all of the knowing parents around me. Oh how right they were! I think Maddie has been 100% well about two days in the last month. It started with fevers and vomiting turned into a runny nose, congestion, and goose honking cough and now is an ever present cough and stuffiness. I so hope it goes away soon.
If I had known Maddie was going to get so sick at the beginning of school I would have started her crocheted blanket sooner. I figured I had a bit of time because the weather in Southeast Virginia usually stays nice and warm all the way into October so I wasnt stressing it. I am hoping to finish it soon and am very pleased how it is coming along.
Maddie has been doing alot off collecting. We found this awesome leaf the other day when we took a walk around Oak Grove Lake in Chesapeake, Va. We thought it looked like a pumpkin scarecrow ghost devil leaf, perfect for halloween!
Glamour birdwatching Maddie! We have been seeing some very large grey cranes in the water lately. I need to look them up in the bird book. Unfortunately it has been getting dark earlier and we havent been able to go on our birdwatching walks as much:(
The coleus in the backyard blooming.
I am glad I checked here... what a nice suprise!
ReplyDeleteI really like your variety of pictures. Are those some kind of mushrooms? I've never seen anything like them before! They are strangely beautiful. Are they growing in your back yard? Is the blue flower the blossoms from the coleous (sp?)? It is really a pretty color of blue!
So the little girl likes big jewelry (ring on the finger) I think :) And I think her squirrel shirt is really cute :) She growing so fast! The binoculars look a bit heavy for her, but I don't think it is preventing her from looking at the birds out there! And, no it doesn't seem that she should be starting any kind of school yet - even tho it is pre-school, it is school. Don't stress the lunch thing too much... She will let you know. If PB & J sandwiches work, they are healthy so go for it! No need to worry about too warm or too cold :)
Take care... I enjoy it when I find new things to see and read here. I looked at the last time you posted, but did not write because I have to remember my password, and I don't. I have to look it up, so I apologize for not commenting then.

p.s. I love the colors you chose for the blanket :) looks snuggly.
Hi Donna! So glad you are still reading this:)
ReplyDeleteThose are not mushrooms and I am not certain what they are. I think they are some sort of seed/nut in a green outer furry shell. Maddie gathered them at the park that we go to called the Fun Forest, its maddie's favorite park. I have never seen them before that day. The coleus was in bloom and the little flower/berries in the top image are from the loriope(sp) that borders the house. The loriope(monkey grass) is taking over the front yard and Daniel wants to dig it out every year but I wont let him. It is out of control but if it wasnt there it would be so bare.
Yes that is a giant blue ring on her finger. We let her pick out whatever she wanted from the trinket bins at World Market and that is what she chose. She loves all things shiny and over the top. You know I was just looking at that picture of her in the shirt and realized that is a fox not a squirrel. All this time we have been calling it her squirrel shirt.
As for the PB&J, she loves them and they are super easy plus I make them on whole wheat so I figured she is getting some protein and fiber so how bad could they be.
Maddies blanket is done but I have to darn all the ends in which is my least favorite part of crocheting. I wish I could crochet without having to worry about that last step. I will have to post a picture of the finished blanket soon.
